2017 Eclipse


The photos below were taken by Member Jianheng. All shots were taken with a Canon 6D and AT65EDQ (65mm aperture 430mm FL) with a tracking mount at Corvallis, Or.

The Baily's Beads was taken several seconds before the total at shutter speed of 1/4000 Totality

Jianheng drove back right after the end of eclipse. He stated the the traffic on I-5 south was bad, it took him 11 hr to drive back to Davis which should normally be a 7.5 hr drive. Great Shot though!


   
   
 

High Serra Observatory (HSO) - Auriga IC Complex

While the observatory at our High Serra Observatory (HSO) is blocked by snow this year, members have still walked in to take advantage of the dark nights, using the C 14 in the Dome or their own equipment. One of the more interesteing constellations to observe during these winter months is Auriga, the Charioteer. Auriga has more sights that just the sixth brightest star in the Galaxy, Capella and the Messier Clusters, M36, M37 and M38. Read full article here...
